Last month I participated in the Circular Economy Forum in Northern States of Mexico. This event was organized by the European Union Delegation to Mexico, the Mexican Employers' Confederation and other national and state institutions.
The Forum was designed to showcase current developments in the Circular Economy arena. Focusing on topics such as Plastics, Textiles, Industrial Symbiosis, and others. It was a very interesting experience to learn more on these topics from the people doing the research and development in the European Union and México.
As we may know, we have a long road ahead of us in Latin America if we want to better implement the principles of circularity in our businesses.
The aim is to achieve our global Sustainable Development Goals and Circular Economy presents a strategy to lead the way. Nevertheless, we must remember that there is no clear and absolute definition for Circular Economy, as it is a relatively new paradigm.
It is in the last decade when political interest and scientific research rose. Particularly in the European Union and China. If you want to know more, here's the link to a very interesting article called Taxonomy of Circular Economy Indicators.
The first indicators for Circularity are published in 2010. So the debate continues on their applicability and functionality. How to use them, where, when and what kind of information do we want to obtain from them are some of the main questions being answered nowadays.
Regardless of these issues, there are tools designed to help companies and organizations assess their Circularity. Serving as their guide to highlight areas of opportunity for improvement.

But for this post I want to share with you the English version of the Assessment Tool.
First, let's remember why it is important to implement indicators in an organization:
Measure performance.
Review progress.
Detect deviations in the processes.
Identify potential phenomena.
Communicate complex information/data.
Create awareness within and outside of the organization.
